girugämesh is a relatively fresh new band. Their music is rather dark and heavy, but it has a rock tempo and is definitely catchy. They like gloomy topics such as 'war', 'prison', 'lies' and 'betrayal', as words such as these and similar appear in their songs quite often. All lyrics are written by the vocalist, Satoshi, while the music is composed by the drummer, Яyo. Girugamesh was created in 2003 in the suburbs of Tokyo. However, 2004 should be considered as the true beginning, because it was in that year the band formed its present line up: Satoshi (vocals, ex-Venom), Nii (guitar), Shuu (bass; before Girugamesh he was a roadie for Kagerou) and Яyo (drums). They band inaugurated its birth by playing a live in Motoyawata ROUTE14 on March 24th, 2004. At the same time, they released their first demo, [kosaki uta] ~kaijou kata enban~. The band played many lives. In August during the concerts they gave away two free records, jelato and →mikongyaku. In the same month they finally released their first maxi-single, [kaisen sengen] ~kikaku kata enban~. The single reached the 10th place in the Oricion indies chart. The end of 2004 witnessed the release of their 2nd maxi, [kuukyo no utsuwa] ~kyosaku kata enban~. In February the band went on a winter tour called 2005 fuyu no yukidoke tourou. The final concert was a 'twoman' live, played with HenzeL on February 28th at Meguro rock may can. March was the month when a recording of their live came out on a DVD for the first time. Girugamesh was featured on KINDLING VOL.1, along with artists such as Phantasmagoria and Vidoll. On April 15th, Girugamesh played a twoman with Marusa. The concert called Kaisen ('outbreak of war') took place at Takadanobaba AREA, and was commemorated by a release of a coupling CD, Senyuu kyoutou uta, 5 days later. The band didn't take time to rest, and the following month alredy they released their first mini-album: goku -shohan kata enban-. From May 29th the band had gone on yet another tour. It was a historical one - it ended on July 17th with their first one-man gig. The show at Meguro rock may can was sold out. The second half of the year was quite busy for the boys as well. In September Girugamesh released a new single, and in October they went on a coupling tour with Luvie. The tour consisted of 14 dates and ended with a two man show. February 2006 witnessed their first one man tour, and April was the release month of their next single. During a promotional tour accompanying that release fans were also able to buy another, special single. Now, the 13s reborn EP is out and they gained a lot of new fans, especially with their first official PV to the Song Owari to Mirai. Read more on Last.fm.
