Kiyoko Itoh (伊東きよ子, born in 1947 in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan) was known in Japanese publicity as a folk singer. Originally aiming for the musical stage, but after succesfully auditioning with the American folk group The New Christy Minstrels while they were in Japan in 1966, she did a brief stint with them in the United States. Not long afterwards, her first single was released in 1967. In August 1970, with the releasing of her second (and what came to be her last) album, 23時の女~ラブ・イン (Woman at 23 O’clock - Love-in), the reputation of folk singer passed away. On this album listener can estimate her updated creation - music became a little bit heavier and psych - as well as beautifully accompanied by the arrangements of Kuni Kawachi of The Happenings Four. The album was produced by Sakumi Hagiwara of Tenjo Sajiki fame. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
