亞北ネル

Neru Akita (亞北ネル) is another well-known fan Vocaloid. She is a supposed otaku-hating friend (or rival) of Miku's and uses Miku's higher voice. Her name in phonetic reading sounds like “I’m tired. Gonna go to sleep.” (Ah, kita. Neru.) She is also depicted as the anti-hero or villain to Miku, and occasionally portrayed as a Miku wannabe. Her origins are as a meme on 2chan, where a troll user began to fill all Vocaloid related threads with negative content. An anonymous user commented that he would not get angry only if the troll was a cute girl. Thus Neru, a tsundere non-Vocaloid net-chara was born. She was created and illustrated by Smith Hioka, although Caffein (the same artist who illustrates Haku) draws Neru at times. She mainly represents forum/bbs trolls, those who don’t have enough patience to use the Vocaloid software, or those who gave up using Vocaloid.
