Alice Anne LeBaron (b. Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States, May 30, 1953) is an United States composer and harpist. She holds a B.A. in music from the University of Alabama (1974), an M.A. in music from the State University of New York at Stony Brook (1978), and a D.M.A. from Columbia University (1989). She studied with György Ligeti as a Fulbright Scholar at the Köln Musikhochschule in 1980-81 and also studied Korean traditional music at the The National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts in Seoul (1983). LeBaron began teaching at the California Institute of the Arts in 2001 and previously taught at the University of Pittsburgh. She composes for the Anne LeBaron Quintet, an ensemble comprising harp, trumpet, tuba, electric guitar, and percussion. Her 1991 recording Phantom orchestra featured the Anne LeBaron Quintet (Frank London, trumpet; Marcus Rojas, tuba; Davey Williams, electric guitar; Gregg Bendian, drums, vibraphone, percussion; and Anne LeBaron, harp with electronics). She was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1992. Writing about LeBaron's 1989 Telluris Theoria Sacra (for flute/piccolo, clarinet/bass clarinet, violin, viola, cello, percussion, and piano), musicologist Susan McClary notes that the work "...points to LeBaron's more pervasive interest in music's ability to mold temporality, immersing the listener in a sound world in which time bends, stands still, dances, or conforms to the mechanical measure of the clock."
