Playing mainly original music and a few less standard covers, Apples Montgomery creates a uniquely melded sound due to the diversity of musical tastes found in each member of the group. Ranging through electronica to jazz to fusion to rock to polka to indie folk, each bit of flavor adds to what can only be described as Apples Montgomery. Most songs are built up from one beat or lick, and improvised upon in classic jazz form, giving each member a chance to lay down a solo. Each member contributes to the eventual makeup of a song, bringing all their influences with them, creating the eclectic style and unpredictability present in many of the recordings and live shows. It should be added that the band has formed a unique sense of humor that presents itself most obviously in the band's name and song titles. Members are Zach Steiner on bass guitar, Matt Morrow on Piano, Zach Harris on Drums, Jason Fabus and Sam Ludwig on tenor saxes, and Corey Murphy on trombone. Hailing from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, all share a common midwest suburban teen angst that drives their obsessive apple smashing tendencies towards epic proportions. Currently Apples is on hiatus. They plan to continue working together in the future but the distance between each member's current college residence leaves no collective, creative outlets. Corey Murphy continues to create lo-fi electronic beats under the moniker "Big Bear." Read more on Last.fm.
