Bird Talk is Melissa "Jumpy" Marquez, Emily Engelhard, Anthony "Shimby" McCreery, and Jacco Kuipers. Three quarters of the band reside in Chicago, Illinois...in a three flat building they have affectionately named the Bird House. Jacco is originally from the Netherlands, but currently calls Wheaton, IL his home. Their debut album "No Bird Left Behind" and "Crazy Mad" EP are now available for name your price download at http://birdtalk.bandcamp.com Formed in the spring of 2007. Jumpy and Shimby found each other via a posting on a well known classifieds website, and hit it off right away. They tried playing with several different people over the span of a couple of months, before finally asking Emily to join them on keyboards in December of 2007. Jacco later joined the band in November of 2008. It was a match made in heaven, in more ways than one...Shimby and Emily are a couple, but the actual musical chemistry between the four of them was apparent from the start. Combining a wide range of influences...from Indie Rock, New Wave, 50's / 60's Garage, Punk, Dance and all shades of Pop music to create a sound that is uniquely there own. In the short time they have been together, they have been a featured artist on Chicago's own radio stations: WXRT 93.1 fm, WLUW 88.7fm, and have been asked to contribute songs to Blalock's Indie Rock playlist, alongside other amazing bands/artist's such as: No Age, Women, Dan Deacon, Los Campesinos!, etc. In addition to opening for well known touring national acts such as: The Black Lips, Vivian Girls, Crystal Antlers, Best Coast, Candy Claws,Titus Andronicus, Spiral Beach, Shell Shag, Turbo Fruits, The Birthday Suits, The Blind Shake...etc. Read more on Last.fm.
