Most know Brian Elliot as an exceptional songwriter, who wrote the hit song “Papa Don´t Preach” performed by Madonna in 1986. "Papa Don't Preach", was written by Brian Elliot, who described it as "a love song, maybe framed a little bit differently". The song is based on teen gossip he heard outside his studio, which has a large front window that doubles as a mirror where schoolgirls from the North Hollywood High School in Los Angeles regularly stopped to fix their hair and chat. Brian Elliot released his only self-titled solo album back in 1978, released on WEA records. In the studio, he got help from Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Jay Graydon, David Hungate, Wilton Felder, Jeff Porcaro, Mike Baird, Seawind Horns and many other great studio musicians.
