Carl Roa is a skillful and accomplished axe wielder currently based in Long Beach, New York (U.S.A.) who represents his playing style as instrumental rock, as a listener can readily appreciate on his most recent album, "Heavy Meddle". His most utilized guitar is a Fender Stratocaster (modified). Roa has been playing guitar since 1980, and without beating around the bush reveals his career aspiration, "To compose, record, and perform my own music." When prompted to divulge his ultimate effect for the guitar, Roa responded by saying, "Delay," and continued by citing his musicial goals, "With my compositions I try to tell a story, each tune should have a unique identity. With instrumental writing the listener is free to conjure up their own meaning to the music, so the song can mean something different to each listener." He eagerly hopes to one day study engineering and production ("I'd like to get into hard disc recording"), and is presently listening to great music from Guitar Nine. His principal fulfillment? "Playing a gig and having people enjoy the music. It's a great feeling to be able to share the music with people and stir up an emotional response," he declares without a doubt. Roa concludes by detailing current and approaching undertakings enthusiastically, by saying, "I'm in the process of writing music for the next record. We hope to start recording early in the new year." Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Carl Roa to guitarists such as Steve Morse, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Alex Lifeson, Eric Johnson and others. Roa's discography (available at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Eternity") and participation on a number of other recordings (Ad Astra "Ad Astra", Matt Cafissi "Heat Of Emotion", Matt Cafissi "All The Little Things", Music Of Hendrix "The Spirit Lives On Vol. 1", Michael Knight "Mechanica Diablo", Magic Elf "Heavy Meddle", Joe Nardulli "Joe Nardulli", Rewired "A Tribute To Jeff Beck").
