Members: Zack Sawyer- Vox Taylor Robert- Lead Guitar/Vox Aaron Buck- Rhythm Guitar Hollis Godsey- Bass Guitar Chris Godsey- Drums Since their inception in 2008, this American metal quintet has been making strides along the gulf coast with hopes of spreading their infectious sound. Based out of Gulfport, Mississippi, Cathercist have taken cues from over the last 30 years in metal and alternative rock and revamped it for a modern audience. With stunning harmonies and searing guitar solos, to their unbelievable rhythms, Cathercist's music has successfully allowed them to compose a style they can call their own. This solid group consists of Zack Sawyer (vocals), Taylor Roberts (guitar), Aaron Buck (guitar), Hollis Godsey (bass) and Chris Godsey (drums). Hollis, formerly of Papercut Massacre (Wind-Up Records) and Sugar Red Drive (Sugar Bear Records), along with brother Chris create the driving back line and foundation for the band. Their blood connection and history together heavily influence the music they create. Guitarists Taylor and Aaron don’t share a tie quite that of the Godsey brothers, however, they are still able to find ways to creatively balance one another out on stage. Zack’s ambition guides the group while his vocals mold and solidify the edgy style that they have claimed. With so many accomplishments, it’s no surprise that Cathercist was featured on the Taste of Chaos tour in March of 2008. Just a few short months later they appeared in the June 2008 issue of Metal Edge Magazine and on a compilation CD along with Opeth. They played the Crawfish Festival in their hometown not only in 2008 but also in 2010. Alongside Uncrowned, Cathercist played at the first ever, annual Inktoberfest held at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Colliseum. They have competed in numerous competitions, including Project Independent, and in December 2010 took 8th place in this nationwide battle of the bands featuring over 200 acts. Cathercist has shared the stage with bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for my Valentine, Atreyu, Trust Company, Bless the Fall, Green Jello, Flaw, Stereoside, The Underneath (Japan) and Indorphine. Yet their devoted fans conclude that "Cathercist sounds like a combination of Breaking Benjamin and Bullet for my Valentine with the vocals of Incubus and Killswitch Engage." In June of 2011, Cathercist will release their debut album with the controversial title "The Untimely Death of Zack Sawyer." Although Zack is very much alive, he said, "The frame of mind from here to now is dead and gone. It's about change. I'm not the same person I was when I wrote that album." This debut album was recorded in Birmingham, Alabama at Echelon Studios. It was engineered by Kevin Duthu and produced, mixed and mastered by Joseph McQueen. Cathercist anticipates a favorable reaction from their already rapidly growing fan base. Read more on Last.fm.
