Clit 45 (“sex and violence", in case you were wondering what they were thinking when they came up with that name, it has nothing to do with alcohol) started out when its members were barely old enough to legally drive to their gigs and definitely NOT legally able to buy the 40 ounce bottles of beer that are part of their pre-show ritual, but they were way cool and totally punx so they drunk underage anyway. The founding members met at their Long Beach high school and along the way have recruited new members as others moved on to pursue other things such as having a respectable place in society. Like any young band, they’ve done their share of touring, which amounted to outstanding debts when they returned home and endless shows to empty crowds. Now, they’re starting to make big money off of dumb punk kids. The band members can now cop their own forties. They’ve self-released 7-inches and have toured with comparable bands such as The Casualties and The Unseen. They have quickly risen through the ranks of the US street punk scene. Along the way, they’ve built a loyal fan base of kids who have been itching for more Clit 45. After having just inked a deal with LA’s BYO Records, they’ve recorded their first official long player, “Self-Hate Crimes,” released on April 19, 2005. The album delivers everything dangerous and exciting about youth. Take, for example, the lead track, “Can’t Stop the Bleeding”, which clocks in at just over a minute and a half and delivers a sharp blow to the ears. Lead vocalist Dave shouts with a venomous passion as he’s backed solidly by his longtime companion on the guitar, Mike. Tucked in the rhythm section to tie the sounds up is longtime A Global Threat drummer, Mike. It’s easy to dismiss this noise as just that, but you’ll catch yourself chanting to yourself the hook to the song “Cut me cut slice slice kill I'm a used rolled dollar bill”. Clit 45, as of Dec. 2006, has gone on "indefinite hiatus", citing the need for a break from the band and each other. This frees them up to do various musical and non-musical projects, which they may or may not keep the public informed about. To quote the band: "Let me clarify, we are not breaking up." Clit 45 announced that they had disbanded on Christmas Day, 2007 via their MySpace page, so they basically lied. Their reason for breaking up is because they all became worthless drug addicts.
