There are three groups known as The Corsairs. An American doo wop group from La Grange, North Carolina who recorded 8 Singles between 1961 and 1964. The group consisted of the Uzell Brothers (Jay, James and Moses) and George Wooten. The second is a group that performed at Renaissance and Pirate Festivals for 13 years. They sang Sea Shanties from the age of sail in A Capella style. They released 8 Studio albums and one live album. The third is a "hardcore" band from Sydney Australia. Formed in the summer of 2006 and fuelled by a mutual affection for horror flicks and 80’s metal, Corsairs play a unique brand of noise characterized by chaotic and aggressive rhythms and a backdrop of haunting chord structures. In the band’s short existence, they have already recorded a self-released demo and shared the stage with bands that include Mourning tide, The Amity Affliction, Deez Nuts, Coma Lies, Slowly Building Weapons, Antiskeptic, Anime Fire and embarked on a tour of Melbourne with Worms of The Earth. Combined with an aggressive and unpredictable live show and influences that range from Mississippi blues to Minor Threat, this band rules. Hard. A new EP titled Devastator will be released soon. www.myspace.com/corsairscrunch Read more on Last.fm.
