D.A.P. or Dirty Alien Project is a group of producers and MC's from Dallas, TX. D.A.P. originally began as a collaborative effort between Colin Roy (DJ Croix), Donny Benavidez (DJ Trek), Brian Glogau (DJ Cobalt), Ryan Black (System DJ), Denzil Chamblis (MC Astro), Joel Salazar (MC Leo J), and Leo Polk (Leo Money). Together, they made hip hop songs with a heavy electronic influence, and drum and bass songs with a heavy hip hop influence - a style more commonly known as Hip Step. Hiphop Influenced Productions Stimulating The Earth's People. D.A.P. expanded their repertoire and began promoting and throwing drum and bass shows soon after getting together, and over a period of 3 or 4 years, managed to bring some of the best international drum and bass talent to Dallas for their DAP Fridays series of events, including Raiden, The Upbeats, DJ Silver, and many more. D.A.P. as a group also opened up for DJ Zinc on his one and only trip to Texas. As D.A.P. matured in their production and engineering skills, they soon realized that it was time to make a few changes in the approach, if they we're to become a driving force in Dallas music. Then the core members of D.A.P. moved on to form Poor Vida Productions, an independent record label and production house. As a company, Poor Vida now produces hip hop, drum and bass, and dubstep commercially, with a talented roster of producers. Poor Vida also offers many other professional services for artists, including studio and live recording and engineering, web and graphic design, and video production and editing. Poor Vida also hosts 2 monthly events in Dallas - Sunday Sessions, held every first Sunday, and Get Your Own, held every third Friday, both at the Green Elephant in Dallas. Read more on Last.fm.
