Dama Scout are an eclectic indie band based in London and Glasgow. They have a breezy sound but maintain hints of darkness, a balance that seems to be a reoccurring theme of their music. Their most recent and second single, ‘All In Too‘ is a frenzied blend of kraut-rock and noise-pop, with smart melodies, dreamy vocals, and fuzzy guitars. Featuring complex, varied instrumentation, and flitting from moments of calm to chaos, the song is also highly catchy. Yet more juxtaposition is found between the pristine vocals over the swirling, hazy track, with the way the band recorded the song building on this, having used a broken laptop microphone to record the acoustic guitar solo. The band cites an array of influences as informing their own sound, including Deerhoof, The Beatles, Autolux, and Meshuggah. Their debut single ‘Forget It’s Good‘ was another dreamy gem that balanced the raw and the tender, with a shimmering intro with jangling guitars, followed by short bursts of heavy bass and guitar. ‘All In Too’ confirms the band as one to watch, and we’ll certainly be watching, waiting and listening out for their their upcoming releases.
