There are two artists named Daniel Evans; 1. Former X Factor Contestant from London, England. 2. Welsh actor and musical theatre performer. 1. Daniel James Evans (born 30 November 1969, London) was a finalist in the 5th series of the X Factor in 2008. He was in the 'Over 25's' category and was mentored by Dannii Minogue. He repeatedly received criticism from both Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh throughout his run in the show, but Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles started a campaign urging listeners to vote for the widowed father. Evans was voted out in the sixth round, after a sing-off with Rachel Hylton. He featured on the X Factor Finalists 2008 single Hero - a charity single that topped the UK chart selling over 900,000 copies in the UK and in 2009 completed a sell out Nationwide arena tour, 34 dates playing to over half a million people. Since the show Evans has released his completely independent, emotional album No Easy Way, which includes the single Open Arms. Daniel has been working hard bringing his unique brand of heartfelt music to new audiences around Europe and is now based in Spain. From Daniel... "I hope you will enjoy my music and my interpretations/arrangements. This is the real me. Not the XFactor me. I truly believe a good song has to have Heart, Soul and Passion. And finally I have the chance to show that with music that I love. We have recorded this album completely independantly with a young but very talented producer and this has given me the freedom to record what I feel are stunning songs, songs that move you emotionally. I have found some real gems and some gorgeous old soul tracks, plus a few other surprises in there, and of course, a few of the most popular tracks I performed on the X Factor TV show… Each and every song I have chosen has at some time been part of the soundtrack of my life, and I hope you guys love these as much as I do. It’s been a dream of mine to do an album…I guess you could say its the last step on my X Factor journey, and to be able to choose, arrange and perform on songs that I really believe in has been amazing. I hope you can take this journey that is this album with me…I’m so proud of it and I hope it moves you as it does me. x more from Daniel @ www.danielevansofficial.com 2. Daniel Gwyn Evans (born 31 July 1973, Rhondda) is a Welsh actor, singer and director. Evans trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama from 1991-1994, but joined the Royal Shakespeare Company before completing his course. With the RSC he had small roles in Coriolanus and Henry V, before playing Lysander when Adrian Noble's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream toured in New York and on Broadway. He appeared in the controversial play Cardiff East at the Royal National Theatre in 1997, and as the title role in Peter Pan, alongside Ian McKellen and Claudie Blakley. His first singing role came in the operetta Candide which saw him nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 2000. After the success of Candide, Evans was soon cast in another singing role, this time the Stephen Sondheim musical Merrily We Roll Along, for which he won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical (2001). In November 2005, he starred in another Sondheim musical, Sunday in the Park with George at the Menier Chocolate Factory in the West End opposite Anna-Jane Casey. At the end of its short run at the Menier, 'Sunday' transferred to the larger Wyndham's Theatre, where it continued until September 2006. It won five Olivier awards, including Best Actor for Evans, Best Actress for Jenna Russell, who took over Casey's role when the Menier run finished, and Outstanding Musical Production. In January 2008, Sunday started previews at Studio 54, on Broadway, New York, with Evans and Russell reprising their parts, and a new cast from the Roundabout Theatre Company. It opened on February 21, 2008, and closed on June 29.The revival was nominated for, but failed to win, 9 Tony Awards, including Best Actor in a Musical for Evans. Evans was also nominated for an Outer Critics' Circle Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical, a Drama League Award for a Distinguished Performance, and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical. On television, he has worked extensively with the BBC, especially in period dramas, including Great Expectations with Ioan Gruffudd, Daniel Deronda with Hugh Dancy, and The Virgin Queen with Anne-Marie Duff. Evans has also had cameo appearances in the long-running series, Spooks, Dalziel and Pascoe and Midsomer Murders. He starred as Daniel Llewellyn in the 2005 Christmas special of Doctor Who, which introduced David Tennant as the 10th Doctor. Read more on Last.fm.
