Digitalverein is one of three musicprojects by Joerg Schuster. Originally it was intended to be a pure Web project, but this changed in the moment when Source Records published an album by him. The album called „Offene Schleifen“ included works he composed as Digitalverein but was released as under his Sensual Physics project. It received highly acclaimed critics by the worldwide press. While Digitalverein tracks are deep dub fragment constructions, he focuses as Sensual Physics more on detroit inspired, mellow minimal house. The soundscapes under his Lufth alias work with organic, fluffy ambient sounds. In all projects one can figure his advanced state of rhythm programming, using a very original ¾ stepped Waltzer beat. Besides his job as graphics designer, Joerg started seriously to concern himself with the production of electronic music in 1993. At that time he possesed a Roland JD800 and a PC. Hardware was bought and sold again, until in 1997 he realized that the PC would be the tool of his favour to compose music. The influences come from Detroit heros like Larry Heard or Dave Angel, but also from modern sound architects like Jan Jelinek, Pole or Funkstörung. „Each of my tracks is a reaction of my brain to most different influences“ Joerg tells. But at most his music is shaped by the daily visual impressions from the area he’s living in, Dortmund, the industrial heart of the Ruhr Area, with its infinite vast coal mines and ruined buildings where heavy steel industry were settled in former times. The affection by the environment where he lives in ever since makes it difficult to compare his songs with works of other musicians. However, in whatever project expressed, it is always deeply emotional and romantically, sometimes also crushing intensively. It catches you and you find yourself again ... dreaming. All of his Thinner Releases and remixes are declared to be essentials and obligatory downloads by germanys most important mag for electronic culture, the DE:BUG. Read more on Last.fm.
