ELIZABETE BALČUS is a Latvian musician and performance artist who creates neo-psychedelic dream pop from surprising, collaged, genre juxtapositions that is simultaneously melodic and experimental. Anything is permitted in her musical cosmos: looping flute and voice, clicking electro pop beats and playing fruits as a synthesizer as well, leaving the listener in a blissed out trance like state, somewhere between the waking and sleeping. Live performance engage the audience with a psychedelic and theatrical situation that is as befuddling as it is mesmerizing. With her first EP Wooden Horse (2011) she has won the prize for Best Debut as the newcomer of the year at the Latvian Annual Music Award. At the end of 2016 Elizabete released her album CONARIUM under the UK label Liminal Noise and it has got nomination for Best alternative album of the year at Zelta mikrofons as well it's nominated for Latvian Mercury Prize - Austras balva for the Best Album of 2017. So far she's been playing at festivals such as The Great Escape, Reeperbahn festival as well as numerous shows in Italy, Netherlands, UK etc Creation of her songs is inspired by her own dream world, Surrealism art and Bauhaus movement, and music: Björk, CocoRosie, Kate Bush, Owen Pallett, Igor Stravinsky. In addition to her solo career, Elizabete plays in the indie-pop band Sus Dungo, as well as with punk-rock orchestra Gatis Ziema un Karaliskā Dekadence.
