Far Above was a five-piece post-hardcore band based in Malmö, Sweden. Far Above is Philip Nilsson - Guitar & Vocals Fredrik Orevad - Drums Ebbe Eriksson - Vocals Jonas Svendsen - Guitar & Vocals Far Above has been a band since the latter part of 2006. Since then, there have been a few member changes, some ups and downs and a whole bunch of shows. They recorded their first demo during the spring of 2007, titled 'Hope for the Hopeless' which contained 3 songs. They continued to play shows and got even more shows based on the demo and their energetic live show. During the spring of 2008, they headed into the studio and recorded their debut EP, titled 'Tension in Bloom'. Recorded by themselves and Tommy Tift of Sista Sekunden and mixed and mastered by Mattias Persson (Sista Sekunden, Atlas Losing Grip, Satanic Surfers), it contains seven new songs, which may have been witnessed live during the last year. The songs are quite diverse in their sound, but is delivered as a whole complete package. 'Tension in Bloom' displays a band who has grown musically over the year. From the post-hardcore angst of 'Remedy by Reduction', the sing along friendly 'Paper Walls', to the more experimental and dynamic two part anthem; 'The Tainted Legacy' (with guest vocals from Nina Christensen of Skilla). Different elements like rememberable melodies, aggressive drumming and straigt up rocking makes its way into the melting pot that forms the sound presented on 'Tension in Bloom'. Shortly after the recording was done, a lineup change occured with Joel Guedj and Tom Bergqvist was replaced with Jonas Svendsen on guitar and Robin Strandberg filling in on bass duties during live shows. Far Above plans to hit the road in support of their new ep, continue to grow as musicians and hopefully make some new friends along the way. 'Tension in Bloom' is out now. Read more on Last.fm.
