Named from ---- The name of Gonin-ish (五人一首) is named from referring to the Japanese classical literature “Hyakunin-ish”. Hyakunin-ish is the literature which contains hundred of poems. The poems are constructed by divided characters, and the dividing rule is 5, 7, 5, 7 and 7 characters. “Hyakunin” means people of one hundred, and “Ish”means one poem. A man at A.D.800 selected 100 excellent poems from a lot of poems. For this reason, the literature was called “Hyakunin-Ish”, and these poems were inherited in the card game. The rule of this game is very simple. when introduction of poem was read aloud, players are to scramble for cards. In the new year, a championship of Japan is held for this game. Refer to the above. A word "Gonin" (means five people) and "ish" (means one poem) were selected for a name of Gonin-Ish. We decided the name of “Gonin-Ish” which is a coined word, meaning to unite songs by five members. Songs ---- Gonin-ish is progressive metal band, the music futures "silence" and "chaos". To express these, we are careful about to manage beautiful melody, death voice, a delicate piano, a percussive piano, irregular time, tension chords and the techniques. When audience experience our shows, everybody expresses our sound as "Progressive Rock", "Death Metal", "Gothic Metal", "Punk?", etc. However, a division of a genre does not have a meaning.Songs of Gonin-Ish are bond to Japan, with lyrics, melodys and artworks. On lyrics, Anoji chooses words from Japanese classic literature which never use modern-day , and it is difficult for modern Japanese to understand the lyrics. This point is not handicap, because Japanese language contains “kanji” characters (They attain to Tens of thousands!). The “kanji” has many meanings by only one character, then Japanese are able to image something easy from lyrics. On this way this action leads songs to good taste. However, listener except Japanese are not able to image, to solve this point, we are going to ready a booklet which contains artworks for new album. At gigs ----- IIt is carrying out energetically with Japanese metal bands, for example,Vigilante, Sigh, Defiled, Ritual Carnege, etc. And we appeared as opening act of DAEMONIA; the great maestro Claudio Simonetti of Italian progressive artist (horror movie sound tracks, such as ex-GOBLIN “SUSPERIA” etc), Gonin-ish is expected to the wide range of activities which are not caught by the genre. Self produce ----- All possible work for materials are done by members. Anoji manages all of melody-lines, lyrics, images and some graphics on PC. Momota manages all of song writing, recordings and masterings. We are aiming to compose works, not as products. Our wish is to accomplish this method. Recently ----- Now, we finished recording and mastering for 2nd full album named “Naishikyo-Sekai”. The title means inner world of you. As the album title, we could describe darkness and melancholic of you very well. This album is out now futuring a new member. ...................................................................................... 1996 : Momota and Fujishiro started the cover band of ANEKDOTEN with Anoji(Gr&Vo). 1997 : Harashima(Dr) & Matuo(Ba) had took the place they needed."Gonin-Ish" had finaly opened their first page. 1998 : The band set to the recording for Demo Tape. : Kukimoto(Ba) joined in. 1999 : Get deal from indie label in Japan, for the first album, : Demo tape review at "It's so easy" fun-zine : Gig at Meguro Live Station, Tokyo. with Defiled, Eternal Elysium, Church Of Misary. 2000 : Selftitled 1st album had beed released. : Interview and disk review at Metal-zine「KABBALA」 : Radio station in Rumania on aired Gonin-Ish. : Disk review at Metal -Zine「EAT Magazine」 . 4/5 points. : World biggest Metal-Zine "Burrn!" reviewed the album.75/100 points. : Disk review and live report at Progressive Rock Magazine "Euro Rock Press" : Disk review at Disk Union's paper "Metal Soul" : Interview and disk review at Magazine in Fukuoka : First tour in Osaka with Eternal Elysium. : Gig at Meguro Live Station, Tokyo. with Defiled, Sigh. : Gig at Gig Antiknock, Tokyo. with Intestine Baalism, Magane. : Gig at Meguro Live Station, Tokyo. with Vortex, King's Evil , Grim Force. : Gig at Crescendo, Tokyo. with Vigilante. 2001 : Featured in the Rockin'f, a national zine, Japanese taste band special. : Live report at Euro Rock Press, a national zine (010629). : Live report at Euro Rock Press, a national zine.(010729) : Live report at Disk Union's paper "Metal Soul" : Live report at "Shoxx", a national zine. : Release live video "Nehan Kagura" : First pressed CD Sold Out. : Matuo(Ba) rejoined. : Gig at Ruid, Tokyo.
