Heartbeat Hotel observes no boundaries when melding the popular song with psychedelic soundscapes, creating music that is at once both mesmerizing and involving. Band members Chris Lyons (guitar+voice), Andy Smith (drums), Dave Connolly (guitar), and Matt Mitchell (bass+keys+voice) have spent the last 10 years together having arguments, writing music, and staying up all night in fits of laughter. Under all of their 3 previous band names, their mission of finding a new inventiveness (both on stage and in studio) has stayed the same. Heartbeat released their debut full-length in March 2010, the self-produced Fetus Dreams, and received several nods for songs such as Windowsill 1, The Hello Barrel, and Fins of a Shark from sources including Exclaim!, Chromewaves.net, and IndieMusicFilter.com -- the latter chose Windowsill 1 for one of its AUX.tv mixtapes. In December 2010, after recovering from two severed tendons to a member's left thumb, the band returned with the CoughDrops EP (also self-produced) which was released on limited edition CD at a night dubbed the Wintergaze Festival, which turned into a joint-release party with both Foxes in Fiction and Memoryhouse. Having appeared with other DIY acts ranging from the Ruby Spirit to Still Life Still, Spiral Beach to DD/MM/YYYY, Heartbeat Hotel continues to tour the Great Lakes triangle between Toronto, Montreal, and New York, and will be releasing their second full-length album in the summer of 2011.
