Jes Maybe was born July 8, 1980 in Northeast Ohio. He began playing various instruments around 8 or 9 years old. "Basically any keyboard or guitar i could find, and then i got a cheap drumset when i was 12, and around 14 i got a karaoke machine which i used as a multi-tracker, until i got a real 4 track at 15." Jes writes and records all the music himself and admittedly is not much of a perfectionist when it comes to the recording process. "it's all just whatever happens and i don't spend a whole lot of time trying to outplay myself. i like writing better than recording but most of the time i record while writing, or something like that, i get bored and just keep it moving." Recently Jes began recording in a more hi-fi format and has even revisited some of his older works. "Well i guess i stepped into the now a bit. A few of my friends had "garageband" and could whip songs together so quickly, after a tormented envious period, i broke down and got a computer, but i honestly don't have as much fun with the programs as i do with a multitrack, but the difference in quality is apparent, and unfortunately alot of people just don't get into the tape sound or understand why i would waste my time with that medium." In 2009, Holiday Records released an EP for internet download of 7 songs. "I don't remember how we found eachother on myspace but they were into what i was doing and asked if they could release some of my songs, so of course i obliged, they have been quite diligent with their releases every Friday and I've met some pretty good artists through them." As for now, Jes continues to write and is eager to someday release some things on vinyl, as he is a self confessed vinyl junkie. "Maybe that's the goal for me, to have a "best of" vinyl release. then maybe i can give up music and begin a new chapter in my life, sailing perhaps." http://www.myspace.com/jes-maybe Read more on Last.fm.
