http://landloversmusic.com http://twitter.com/landlovers Land Lovers of Dublin, Ireland have notions on being a pop band. Formed in 2008, they have recently released their second album, Confidants. It is their first album as a full band. Jim Carroll of the Irish Times called it "a rare gem of a record" where you'll find "meaty, magnificent, haunting worlds of domestic wonder". They remind some folk of XTC, or Television, or Elvis Costello & the Attractions. One of the things they do, as founder members of the Popical Island collective, is to help with its various undertakings, like arranging the monthly Popicalia night and assisting with other releases. They have had songs on both Popical Island compilations and singer Padraig Cooney wrote The High Line, a Christmas single by The Popical Island Showband (an 18-piece 'wall of sound'). They've played at Electric Picnic, Forbidden Fruit, Body & Soul and Castlepalooza. They've also been the unloved crowd-fluffers for an assortment of international luminaries, including Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks, The Mantles, Nodzzz, and The Wave Pictures. Both Land Lovers albums and an EP are available at Bandcamp. Here lie the band members: Pádraig Cooney. Then Ciarán Canavan, Brian Lynchand Rob, then Cormac Hughes, then Rob left, then Shane Murphy joined. Read more on Last.fm.
