LATZEN 1993 – 1999 (2007/08). Latzen 1993 ko udan sortu zen talde bezala Oñatin (Gipuzkoa), hamasei urte besterik ez zituzten. Taldekideak: Gorka Lazkano, Joxe Mari Azpitarte, Iker Martinez de zuazo eta Aitor Uriarte. 1995 ko aste santurako badute abesti sorta bat eta horietako sei grabatzeko asmoz Carlos Creator ekoizle ezagunarekin harremanetan jartzen dira. Berarekin, Bilboko Rockstudios-en grabatzen dute lehen maketa eta bakarra, “Heriotzari deika” izenekoa. Laster datoz kontzertu gehiago, geroz eta potoloagoak eta Euskadi Gaztea-ko maketa lehiaketako entzuleen saria. Sari honekin Latzen uhinetan sartzen da eta horrela bere musika gehiago anplifikatzen da. Egintxotx lehiaketa izango da taldearen ibilbidean hurrengo aurrerapauso garrantzitsua eta bertan izandako arrakastaren ondoren, taldeak lehenengo diskoa grabatzeko proposamena jasotzen du Oihukaren eskutik. 1996ko udan Elkar estudioetan sartzen dira Jean Phocas teknikari eta Carlos Creator ekoizle direlarik, eta bertan jaioko da Latzenen lehen lan luzea, “Kontzientzia ala Infernua”. Diskoak sekulako danbatekoa ematen du eta taldeak gogor jotzen du euskal musikaren eszenan. Lan honek metal musikako abesti gogorrak biltzen ditu, beti ere rock ukitu batekin, eta hamaika kantuen artean “Bat gehiago”, “Hiesa ihes”, “Ze ingo xu” edo gerora oso ezagun egingo den “Laztana” balada aurkitzen dira. 1997 amaieran, taldeak geldiune bat egiten du bere bigarren lan luzea izango zena prestatzeko. Disko berria Kaki Arkarazo (Negu Gorriak) ekoizle bezala dutela prestatzen dute. 1998 ko martxoan grabatzen da Kakiren gidaritzapean, Elkar estudioetan berriz ere Jean Phocas teknikari dutelarik. Hamabi kantu eta Kakiren remix bat biltzen ditu lan honek. Han ezagutzen du taldeak Haritz Harreguy, gerora taldearen zuzeneko teknikari izango dena. Taldeak bere soinua gogortzen du, abiadura motelduz eta kolpea eta indarra handituz. Bigarren disko honen izena “Ardi Larruz” izango da eta berriz ere oihartzun handia izango du. Bi diskoen salmentak marka guztiak apurtuko ditu. Hortik aurrera Latzen zuzeneko makina bat bihurtzen da berriro han eta hemen jendearen belarriak gogor astinduz. Taldeak kontzertuak ematen jarraituko du 1999 ko abuztuan motorra gelditu eta desegitea erabakitzen duen arte. Guztira, 160 kontzertu eta era guztietako bizipenak uzten ditu atzean Latzenek. Inongo arrazoi zehatzik gabe, adostasunez, taldeak etorri bezala agur esateko garaia dela sentitzen du. Ibilbide motza bezain intentsua. Zortzi urte pasatu dira eta beraien arteko erlazioa inoiz guztiz galdu ez den arren, bakoitzak bere bidea egin du eta bitarte horretan, besteak beste, hainbat proiektu musikal ezberdin izan dira: Aitorrek, Haritz Harreguy-rekin batera, “Sen” taldean jardun zuen 1999-2004 eta gaur egun “UNE” taldeko ahotsa da. Iker eta Joxemari berriz, beste hainbat proiektutan ibili ondoren, “Potemkin” taldean dihardute, gitarrarekin eta baxuarekin hurrenez hurren. Iker “Amonal” taldean ere aritzen da tarteka. Orain, duela hamabost urte sortu zuten Latzeneko partaide berberek, beraienganako eta inguruarekiko zirkulua merezi duen bezala guztiz ixteko asmoz, beraien gaur egungo talde eta bizietan etenaldi txiki bat egingo dute Latzen-en indarra berreskuratu eta mimo haundiz zuzeneko kontzertu jakin batzuk emateko “INFERNUKO ATEETAN TOUR”. Guztia DVD eta zuzeneko CD formatuan bilduko dute. Ondoren berriz ere beraien “UNE” eta “Potemkin” proiektuetara bueltatuko dira hurrengo lanei jarraipena emateko. LATZEN 1993 – 1999 (2007/08). Latzen se formó como grupo en Oñati (Gipuzkoa) en verano de 1993, solo tenían dieciséis años. Miembros: Gorka Lazkano, Joxe Mari Azpitarte, Iker Martinez de zuazo y Aitor Uriarte. Para Semana Santa de 1995 tienen un puñado de canciones y se ponen en contacto con el conocido productor Carlos Creador para grabar seis de esos temas. Con él graban en “Rockstudios” de Bilbao la que será su primera y única maqueta, “Heriotzari deika”. Pronto llegan más conciertos, cada vez más gordos, y el premio del público en el concurso de maquetas de la radio Euskadi Gaztea. Con este premio, Latzen entra en las ondas y su música se amplifica todavía más. El concurso Egintxox será el próximo gran avance en el camino del grupo, tras el éxito conseguido, el grupo recibe la propuesta de Oihuka de grabar su primer disco. En verano de 1996 entran en los estudios Elkar con Jean Phocas de técnico y Carlos Creator como productor, y allí nace el primer larga duración del grupo, “Kontzientzia ala Infernua”. El disco consigue un gran éxito y el grupo pega fuerte en la escena del rock vasco. El disco encadena canciones duras de metal, siempre con un toque de rock. Entre las once canciones encontramos canciones como “Bat gehiago”, “Hiesa ihes”, “Ze ingo xu” o la archi conocida balada “Laztana”. A finales de 1997, el grupo se toma un respiro para preparar lo que sería su segundo disco. El nuevo disco se prepara con Kaki Arkarazo (Negu Gorriak) como productor. Se graba en marzo de 1998 en los estudios Elkar, otra vez con Jean Phocas de técnico y bajo la batuta de Kaki Arkarazo. Allí el grupo conoce a Haritz Harreguy, quién luego será técnico de directo del grupo. El grupo endurece su sonido, reduce la velocidad y aumenta la fuerza y el golpe. El segundo disco se titula “Ardi larruz” y de nuevo tendrá una gran repercusión. La venta de los dos discos rompe todas las marcas. De ahí en adelante, Latzen vuelve a convertirse en una máquina del directo, golpeando los oídos del público allá por donde pasa. El grupo seguirá dando conciertos hasta que en agosto de 1999 para el motor y decide deshacerse. En total, Latzen deja atrás 160 conciertos y multitud de vivencias. Sin razones concretas, de mutuo acuerdo, el grupo siente que es momento de decir adiós de la misma manera que dijo hola. Han pasado ocho años, y aunque la relación entre ellos no se ha perdido nunca, cada uno ha hecho su camino y en este período, entre otros ha habido diferentes proyectos musicales: Aitor, junto con Haritz Harreguy, estuvo en “Sen” entre 1999 y 2004 y actualmente es cantante de “UNE”. Iker y Joxemari, depués de participar en otros proyectos, están ahora en “Potemkin”, tocando la guitarra y el bajo respectivamente. Iker también toca en “Amonal”. Ahora los mismos que crearon Latzen hace catorce años, con la intención de cerrar el circulo respecto a ellos mismos y a sus seguidores de la mejor manera, harán un pequeño paréntesis en sus vidas y en sus respectivos grupos para recuperar la fuerza de Latzen y dar unos conciertos concretos “INFERNUKO ATEETAN TOUR”. Todo se registrará en formato DVD y Cd en directo. A continuación volverán a los proyectos “UNE” y “Potemkin” para dar continuidad a sus siguientes trabajos. LATZEN 1993 – 1999 (2007/08). Latzen started as a band in summer 1993. Like many other bands, we could say it was something dreamt in cut classes. At that time Gorka Lazkano (drums), Joxemari Azpitarte (bass) and Aitor Uriarte (guitar and voice) were in the same class, and Aitor shared some other activities with Iker Martinez de Zuazo (guitar). The four of them looked for a place to meet in Oñati; they were 16 years old, no more. They got a door open at Hor Konpon" mythical band's place. After they had struggled to get the first material for music, this was Latzen's home from now onwards: the home of a family made up of different members and different bands who lived unforgettable moments. That year's summer they tried to get the first versions at the time they suffered the consequences of rain in the place. After trying out every single day they learned the beginnings and ends of different songs. That year's December and without giving it too much thought, they gave their first "concert" in Ongi pub in Oñati (four songs), made up of different versions. Later other pubs followed the first one, Arrano, Zubillaga,... They continued working hard, making songs and giving concerts. By 1995 Easter they had a number of songs. They got in touch with the well-known producer Carlos Creator with the aim of recording six songs. They recorded their first and unique demo tape called Heriotzari deika in Rockstudios in Bilbao. Members of the band themselves arranged the sale, and after a pretty good job, they sold the 2000 copies at once. More concerts came, bigger ones each time and together with this, the listeners' prize in the demo contest organized by Euskadi Gaztea radio. Latzen got on the waves with this prize, and its music still became more amplified. Egintxotx was the group's next important step forward, and due to their success, Latzen was made the proposal to record their first record by Ohiuka. In summer 1996 they got into Elkar studio with the technician Jean Phocas and the producer Carlos Creator. The group's first long work titled "Kontzientzia ala infernua" was born there. All songs in the record were completely new, leaving apart the demo itself and many loved previous songs. This record became really successful and the group hit hard in the Basque rock scene. This work gathered heavy metal songs, always with some rock touch, and among others also the well-known ballad Laztana. Latzen and "Manri"s van gave off smoke giving concerts from town to town. Halls, Youth centres and among town festivals the crowded concert in "La Plaza del Gas" in Bilbo's festivals, concerts for Basque schools... Many and massive concerts. In this period Latzen's first visits to Madrid and Barcelona happened. At the end of 1997, the band stopped to prepare their second big record. They worked on it with Kaki Arkarazo as the producer. They recorded it in March 1998 in Elkar studio, being Kaki Arkarazo the boss, and again Jean Phocas the technician. This work compiled twelve songs and a remix by Kaki. The band met there Haritz Harreguy, who would be the band's live technician in the future. They made their sound heavier, slowing down the speed, and increasing their blow and strength. The name of this second record was "Ardi Larruz" and it had far-reaching effects. The sale of both albums beat all records. They played their first concert in Oñati in a festival organized in favour of Chiapas. From here on, Latzen became again in a machine in live concerts, beating audience's ears wherever they went. Latzen created expectancy for the first time in Madrid, Zaragoza, Guadalajara and in many other places. Consequently, they started making their way in Spain. The band carried on with their concerts until August 1999, the time in which they gave up and decided to split up. In total, Latzen left behind 160 concerts and lots of experience. Without any concrete reason, in agreement, they felt they had to leave in the same way they turned up. A short but intense journey. They played for the last time in Arantza, 13th August 1999. There remained behind the band's last live notes, the last sweat drops... Eight years have gone by, and although they have kept on with their relationship, each member of the band have made their own way. New and different music projects came out in this period of time: Aitor, together with Haritz Harreguy, became part of Sen between 1999 and 2004; nowadays he is the singer of Une band. Iker and Joxemari, the guitar and the bass, are members of Potemkin, after having been involved in other projects. Iker plays in Amonal from time to time too. Now, the same members who started Latzen fifteen years ago, will give up their work in other bands and personal lives for a short time in order to recover Latzen's strength, and besides, to give some live concerts. Their closest mates and followers deserve it as well as the band members themselves. They will compile all that in a DVD and a live CD.
