Lockerbie is a 5-piece band originally formed in Reykjavík early 2008 by four 16 and 17 year old friends that shared the interest in making and performing music. Rúnar, Davíð and Gummi (Guðmundur) met each other in elementary school in Hafnarfjörður where they started playing. They linked up with Doddi (Þórður) a year after meeting him in the Icelandic battle of the bands competition called Músíktilraunir in early 2007. Their first song release, Snjóljón, came in the fall of 2009 following winning a competition held by the National Radio of Iceland (RÚV) where bands could send in their demo and hopefully get picked to record the song in a major studio. Snjóljón sparkled interest from various places; bloggers, promoters and even corporates as the song was used in a collaboration video between Nike and Össur. Lockerbie spent the whole year of 2010 recording their debut album, Ólgusjór, which was eventually released by in Iceland by Record Records in July 2011. The album was also released in Germany by Kapitän Platte and in Japan by Rallye Label. They spent the next year following the album up in Iceland with various shows around the country and finishing the follow up in 2012 with a European tour. Now four years from the release of Ólgusjór comes a fresh second album - Kafari. Writings for the album began in 2012 and in the spring of 2013 they introduced a new member, Hafsteinn Þráinsson, on guitar and synthezisers. Recordings of the album took 2 years between 2013 and 2014. The music has evolved and matured since the release of Ólgusjór. String quartets have been replaced by synth pads, electronic influences are clear and with the recruitment of their newest member, Haffi, the sound gets a new dimension. http://www.facebook.com/lockerbiemusic http://www.myspace.com/lockerbiemusic http://www.twitter.com/lockerbiemusic http://www.soundcloud.com/lockerbie lockerbiemusic@gmail.com Band members: Davíð Arnar Sigurðsson - Piano and synthesizer Guðmundur Hólm - Bass and backing vocals Hafsteinn Þráinsson - Guitar Rúnar Steinn Rúnarsson - Percussion Þórður Páll Pálsson - Guitar, synthesizer and lead vocals Read more on Last.fm.
