'Sound is limitless. I feel like there are so many possibilities for each song. Every note, every verse is so subjective. It's personal for the artist and for the person listening. I feel privileged to have the ability to do both, and would like to continue for as long as possible.' Luke Elliot has started to spread an array of sounds across the country. Elliot's music has been steadily gaining more and more attention since his debut EP, "Death of a Widow," was released by Yerbird Records in 2010. The EP gained him a dedicated fan base that followed him through a circuit of venues across the Northeast. The music, comprised of an eclectic mix of genres and ideas, gained him critical acclaim as an artist to pay attention to. Beginning in New York's Lower East Side, Elliot and his band quickly made their way from the dive bar scene to some of New York's more popular venues, from the Mercury Lounge to the Bitter End. Gaining a reputation as an ever-evolving live act, they began gaining popularity in Philadelphia, headlining venues such as the North Star, and the World Cafe Live. In 2011, Luke was approached by director Paul Cantagallo to compose for a new film, "Benny the Bum." His first scoring effort brought light to his musical dexterity. Acknowledged previously as a live performer and recording artist alone, Elliot has become someone recognized for being able to play many roles. Writing the title song for the film began to give Luke prominence westward, as the picture won Best Local Film at the 2012 Philadelphia Independent Film Festival. He and his band, guitarist Jim McGee, bassist Ed Barber, and drummer Dan Peck, performed live at the historic First Unitarian Church for the Festival's film screening. With a busy tour schedule, and now presence as an accomplished composer, Elliot has begun to develop more and more public and media attention. In 2013, Christa Shaub, Founder of Shaub Management and former Senior A & R Director at BMG Chrysalis, took on Luke as a client. Shaub, who was instrumental in cultivating new business and played a pivital role in the signing of emerging artists John Legend and Rihanna, took an interest in Elliot at one of his appearances at the Mercury Lounge. Shaub's creative insight and imaging expertise paired with Elliot's sound base and commercial following are expected to become a major force in the music scene upon the release of Elliot's upcoming EP.
