Mat Payne: DJ, producer, remixer and bus pass holder (don‘t ask). Mat first set clubland alight (NB. not literally) with his notorious remix of Busy P‘s ‘Rainbow Man’, which re-imagined the original as a balls-out, 130 BPM, floor-filling smash. The mix regularly gets Europe-wide airings (it’s a big favourite in Barcelona) and has even seen Mat’s name make the transatlantic jump to the Big Apple of A (New York). The Manchester-based deck god has worked his magic on a wide range of artists including 2 Live Crew, Crystal Castles, Mercury Prize-winners Klaxons and recent chart-topper T2 (although he doesn’t like to talk about that one). A fine live DJ specialising in Electro/Dance/Wonk/Etc., Mat has spun out alongside the likes of Headman, Duke Dumont, Boys Noize, Mr. Oizo, Chicks On Speed, Dragonette and even rave veterans U-U-U-Utah Saints. He has brought joy to patrons of nights such as Prostitutes & Policemen, Bugged Out!, Chicks Digs Jerks, Homoelectric, and shaken London’s Scala right down to its very foundations. When not readying the masses for the floor, Mat likes nothing better than putting together mixtapes and releasing them on the internet.
