A technical wizard turned new-age contender to the global dance spectrum, Mike Klash has more than held his corner with sparing yet succinct footsteps. Born in Transylvania, his time to shine would come amid a transition to the UK, where Klash would perfect his technical dexterity. A DJ whose love for sound and its technical structure would override his professional aspirations, an early home studio and a quick mastery of its devices would see Klash head to the UK to pursue his engineering aspirations. With his education teaching him how to work the system to his advantage, Klash would barter his skills and services in return for other student’s rationed studio time, offering optimal time for the young producer to refine his craft. Developing an early affliction for audio post-production, Klash’s technical interests were engineered by a love for the sound of film and advertising mediums. Alongside college peers Third Party, his taste for peak time club music could only grow, with him donning his hand to some of the duo’s earliest productions and seeing first hand the relevance to which their mutual passion leaned. Whilst such high-profile clients as BBC, ITV, M&C Saatchi, Ogilvy and BDA Creative opened the door to vital professional advances, it was a longing to create music for the dance floor that would propel the young talent towards musical absolution. His own footsteps, however, would not come overnight. Between some of London’s more infamous studio spaces, including Soho Square, Strongrooms and Fortress, Klash would forge a true labor of love story in the pursuit of musical attainment. A period of break-neck budgeting, pouring sleepless nights into the mastery of his craft, a bigger picture formed in which his adoration for electronic music and lust for musical quality could coexist in infectious harmony. That versatile sound bred for the love of dance music and the club culture it has engulfed for decades is the epitome of this impending musical legacy.
