Pat Coast

Quick blues licks drive Pat Coast's songs along as he unreels original songs in the Roy Buchanan/ Roy Rogers vein. There is a jazzy feel to most of these roundhouse rockers, and tight rhythm work and horn arrangements supplement the clean electric-guitar sound. Pat Coast has been a serious student of blues guitar since the age of 14, when his mother got him his first guitar with trading stamps. He absorbed the styles of Albert King, Freddie King, Eric Clapton, early Hendrix, T-Bone Walker, and Mick Taylor, among others. In the 1980s, he went on the road full time, touring 6 western states and 3 Canadian provinces. He went out on his own in the 1990s, producing 4 albums, the latest one being 2003's "Don't Touch My Guitar". He has won numerous regional blues awards , including best blues guitar, best slide guitar, best album, best band, and best male vocalist, though he can't for the life of him figure out why. Blues Revue magazine said that Pat's playing is "quicksilver fast and a little jazzy, ala Robben Ford or Chris Cain, though he plays with a little more rock edge than those guys..." and that he "combines greasy swing licks with rockabilly fire on his axe...juicy stuff!" He currently lives in Post Falls, Idaho, with his wife of 22 years and has one grown son and two teenagers at home. He is currently working on a solo acoustic project. Read more on Last.fm.
