Red 13 was a hard rock band from New Jersey, USA. Red 13 was founded in 2000, by cousins Tim Ostin and Will DeJesus. It wasn't until 2001 that the band officially formalized with the inclusions of Jesse Graglia on guitar and Jon Sitar on drums. After a year, Jon left the band due to personal conflicts and the desire to pursue a different musical project, DIVE Nevertheless, Red 13 continued on and eventually picked up Tom Finch (drums) and Mike Lema (bass) who were local fans of the band. During this period, the band played many local area shows and even landed an opportunity to open for Soulfly. However, due to tensions within the band, Red 13 decided to drop Tom and Mike search for new players. Long time friends Ernesto Gencarelli (formerly of local metal band Murderhole) and Darren Fisher filled the positions in 2007 and Red 13 signed with local indie label Romulus X Records. Red 13’s in-your-face songwriting style, fusing modern hard rock with elements of metal and alternative rock was captured on July 10th, 2008 when they released their debut album, My Bitter Story. The album was produced by Max Illidge (formerally with 40 Below Summer) and Micah Havertape (formerally of FLAW). With a live show second to none, this native New Jersey band then decimated stages with Ill Nino, OTEP, Walls of Jericho, Kittie and Powerman 5000 across the United States. Similarly, Red 13 performed at The Bamboozle 2008 Festival with Paramore, Story of the Year, Coheed and Cambria, Jimmy Eat World, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Senses Fail, citing Red 13’s diversity as a band. However, Red 13 decided to disband in August of 2009.
