Royer

Royer is a producer/DJ of warm, melodic, low-res house based in Paris, France, with releases on Tasteful Nudes, Material Image, Lobster Theremin, and Closer. Royer could also refer to the last names of various other artists, as listed below. (1) Joseph-Nicolas-Pancrace Royer (c. 1705–11 January 1755), French musician, composer, and harpsichordist. Born in Turin, Royer went to Paris in 1725, and in 1734 became maître de musique des enfants de France, responsible for the musical education of the children of the king, Louis XV. Together with the violinist Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville, Royer directed the Concert Spirituel, starting in 1748. Royer was at the Paris Opéra during the 1730s and the 1750s, writing six operas himself, of which the best known is the ballet-héroïque Zaïde, reine de Grenade. In 1753 he acquired the prestigious position of music director of the chambre du roi (the king's chamber), and in the same year was named director of the Royal Opera orchestra. He died in Paris. (2) Yves Royer, French vocalist and songwriter of obscure post-punk outfits Guerre Froide (among other recondite groups in the late 1970s and 1980s). (3) Vincent Royer, French violist and composer who has performed with other musicians and composers as varied as Horatiu Radulescu, Scott Fields, Jorge Antunes, and Luc Ferrari. (4) Casey Royer, American drummer, vocalist, and songwriter known for his work with Southern California-based punk rock bands Social Distortion and the Adolescents.
