Spiritfall was formed in 1996 by Christian Spencer, Anthony Stone and Stefan Dekker in Stockton, California. They rehearsed in Stefan's garage and performed Metallica, ZAO and Focal Point covers, then original music in local clubs. '"The musical connection that we have is amazing; everything is really positive,"' says bassist Ben Souza, added in 1999 when the band moved to Chico, California. In March 2001, the band crossed the country on the All Under Heaven Tour with Shun, then in July played 18 shows in 22 days on the Are We There Yet Tour, including Emerson Theatre in Indianapolis, Emerald Theatre near Detroit, Pyramid Club in New York City, 5 Points South in Birmingham, Masquerade in Atlanta, Bash on Ash in Tempe and Chain Reaction in Anaheim with, in part: Haste, [minus], Not Waving But Drowning and ZAO. Spiritfall's musical style development is probably best described as metal and hardcore roots, evolving as the band was influenced by the music of Far and Deftones into their own sound, variously described by others as hard rock, pop, alternative metal, and emo. Spiritfall combines melody and harmonies with aggressive instrumentals, but emotion is the foundation of Spiritfall's music. '"Our goal is to completely "expose" ourselves emotionally and musically,'" admits vocalist Anthony Stone, while guitarist Christian Spencer reveals, '"There really are no boundaries in music, and that is what makes it so powerful."' "Intoxicatingly beautiful and yet completely intense friendly yet emotionally drenched blend of emocore and new metal" - wookubus, Pimp Rock Palace (theprp.com) Spiritfall completed a 10-song CD in December 1999, but their music was developing so rapidly with their ambitious performance schedule that they decided to release an initial 6-song concept CD in 2000, "My Reason," which first release sold out at spiritfallband.com and on tour. Unfortunately, they are disbanded in 2001 after a fight with the band members and the record dealer and quit the band. Spiritfall has played with: Papa Roach, Taproot, Alien Ant Farm, Pressure 4-5, dredg, Onelinedrawing, The Revolution Smile, Fenix TX, 8 Stop 7, Zebrahead, The Juliana Theory, Ethynol, Trans-Lux, Paradox 44, Darkest Hour, The Systematics, Insolence, ZAO, Spike 1000 and Will Haven!
