As one half of Scotland’s highly respected ‘Nimmo Brothers’, Stevie Nimmo www.stevienimmo.com been a well known and respected figure throughout the blues and roots world for over 15 years. Now, having toured extensively with the critically acclaimed blues rock outfit over the last 12 months, he is taking to the road in a stripped back, acoustic duo format with immensely talented Scottish guitarist Conor Smith to continue promotion of his debut solo project ‘The Wynds of Life’. With Conor’s playing being largely inspired by Country and R n B, citing players such as Danny Gatton, James Burton, Tony Rice, Ry Cooder, Jimmy Bryant and Wes Montgomery as major influences, added to the fact that, even at the tender age of just 22 he has been lucky enough to share the stage with some greatly talented musicians from all over the world, this mix of the two styles makes for a new, fresh and compelling sound. Although touched upon in previous Nimmo Brothers recordings, this new adventure brings to the fore a more personal and intimate side to Stevie’s personality; focusing more on his considerable songwriting talents as he brings together a wonderful blend of country, gospel and, of course, blues influences to present a fine selection of self penned songs as well as a few carefully chosen covers played in his own passionate, inimitable style. Don’t miss this chance to witness one of ‘Scotland’s finest singer songwriters’ – David Knowles, Maverick magazine, up close and personal as he passes through the uk & Europe throughout 2013. Quotes: ‘Man that guy can sing!’ David Grissom (storyville) ‘Stevie’s voice is at times gritty, other times emotional but all times perfection!’ Maverick magazine ‘Stevie possesses a great depth to his work. He has come through with an album befitting those lending support and that pretty much says it all.’ Displaying a burning passion to get down and dirty, he becomes neck deep in the swampy Louisiana side of things when he comes up with a future blues steeped rock gem as ‘Long Road To Heaven’.. Muscle Shoals at its peak would be proud of having recorded this track!’ Flyinshoes review Read more on Last.fm.
