The Tauren Chieftain is a hero in the popular video game Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos (2002) and its expansion Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne (2003) made by Blizzard Entertainment. The maximum level of a hero in the game is Level 10, at which the hero has reached its maximum capacity strength-wise. Chieftain is a rank in a Tauren tribe. The Tauren are huge, bipedal creatures generally bovine in appearance. They're part of an alliance - the Horde, hence their song "The Power of the Horde" - between several races known to the Warcraft universe, namely the Darkspear Trolls, the Orcs, the Forsaken and the Blood Elves. The band "Tenth Level Tauren Chieftain" is said to be the band of a friend of Samwise, art director of Blizzard Entertainment. Their song "The Power of the Horde" was used in "Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne" and can also be found in several custom games online. The group was originally known as "Tenth Level Tauren Chieftain", the highest level a Tauren Chieftain could be in Warcraft III; the name was changed to Level 60 Elite Tauren Chieftain for the 2005 BlizzCon, Level 60 then being the highest level attainable in World of Warcraft. They are now known as Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain, due to the raised level cap in the expansion for World of Warcraft, called Burning Crusade. On July 16, 2007, the group releases I Am Murloc. And for what its worth, while playing Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, type in "TenthLevelTaurenChieftain" and the song "The Power of The Horde" will play. The band have since renamed themselves Level 60 Elite Tauren Chieftain and later Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain after the maximum levels in World of Warcraft and the burning legion expansion respectively.
