The Bandname"The Ratmen" came to be because at that time there was a Batman revival going on. Bassist Ron found that so silly that he thought it was time to ridicule it. In came with The Ratmen. Their band t-shirts had a drawing of a fat rat on it. During the early days we had a second guitar player,Peter Fol, but only stayed for a few gigs to play then left which then become only us three. Walter, singer guitarist, was the genuis of the band. He wrote and arranged all songs and for a large part determined the sound of the band. Walter has always been a fan of the fifties, Ray Charles, Elvis, Johnny Burnette and alot of obscure great guitarslingers. Han came from the punkscene and loved The Clash etc. Ron couldn't hide his affection for the forties and fifties style county and hillbilly music, followed by heavy bass-slapping rockabilly. It's that slapping sound that drove him to psychobilly. When they met, they were between 16 and 20 years old.
