THE OATHS The Oaths were born in Guadalajara, Jalisco in 2009. The idea came from the minds of Arturo La Madrid, an established jazz musician and producer, and Andrés Romo, a lead singer in a local independent band called Antoine Reverb. Andrés was managing a Jazz Bar that Arturo played in regularly every Saturday, and every week, right after his show, they got caught in a little drunk talk. They soon realized they had common interests in music, they both felt strongly about the electro movement that was happening in Australia and France, hailing names like The Presets and Boys Noize. It was not too long before they decided to take matters into their own hands. They both met up at a friend’s studio and started working on some tracks Arturo had produced a while back. Suddenly, almost seamlessly, a collection of songs began to take shape. Determined on making it work in a live setup they called Poncho, an experienced drummer Arturo had been working with for a few years. Thus, The Oaths were born. A few months is all it took to prepare a live act worthy of Guadalajara’s growing electronic scene. In late 2009 The Oaths presented their project for the first time to the public eye, gathering general acclaim. They began opening for International artists such as Junior Boys, Thieves Like Us and Trentemøller. Although existing for a short period of time the Oaths have already crossed unto other Mexican territories playing New Years Eve 2011 in Playa del Carmen. Alongside screaming bass and megaphones The Oaths explore a lighter side of electro, and head out to become one of the leading names in Mexican dance music. ASTRONOMY Astronomy is the first single off The Oaths debut E.P. It began as an idea of having an opening track that grabbed your attention immediately. It starts with a single bass line and starts building up to a soaring chorus. Gadgets we’re used to distort the singer’s voice creating a fictional character singing about sex and having fun. Tiffany, a Texan girl, was invited to participate with some verses, and Klaus Mayer, an Austrian sax player, recorded an impeccable solo. Put all of those elements together and a fun crisp 90’s feel song soon came into play. The first studio produced song by The Oaths takes you on a fun care-free ride you’ll want to repeat over and over again. Read more on Last.fm.
