Universal Constructors started out in a hovel in London, but now straddles the English Channel / la Manche like some kind of pan-european Colossus of ambient trip-hop, bleepy electrical funk and dub. The UCs have remixed tunes for Keane and Ashley Slater. You can grab these and more at www.universalconstructors.com. The name is inspired by the self-replicating nano-robots that visit the start of the universe in Stephen Baxter's "The Time Ships" - a follow up to HG Wells' the Time Machine. It's also a well-known concept (among geeks) for self-assembling machines that can be used for useful stuff like terraforming, and making coffee cups an' ting.
