Valerie

Valerie is a name of at least five acts: 1) A simplified mononym of Valérie Sajdik (b. 2 Apr 1978), an Austrian pop artist who became famous as the lead singer of Saint Privat, which was very successful in the early 2000s. She has since released two solo albums and tours internationally. Born in a vineyard close to Vienna, she spent her early childhood in Moscow, and splits her time between living in Austria and France. She speaks four languages: English, French, German and Russian. Most of her recordings are in either German or French. In February 2010, she was invited to perform at the Vancouver Cultural Olympiads (Francophone Side) and performed on CBC Radio-Canada along with ukulele player and songwriter Victoria Vox. She performed "Noyés" (written by Vox) and also her original "Encore Une Fois", both from her 2010 album, Ich Bin Du Bist. Known for their big choruses and guitar riffs, along with blistering guitar solos – Their music is often referred to as a cross between great 80s acts like Mötley Crüe, Dokken, Ratt and a more modern rock sound. It’s melodic, catchy, in your face hard rock. Valerie is 1987 in 2012. During their short career (2 years and counting), Valerie has grown a strong reputation in their home county, but also made their mark on the national glam/sleaze scene. In June 2011 they released their first 2-track demo (Taste the bullet, Love is like a heart attack) where both songs reached the number one spot on www.urørt.no (A national site for underground music owned and promoted by the national state television channel NRK) In January 2012, the band signed a deal with Hellish Records and is soon releasing their 1st debut album. The record consist of 8 hard rocking tracks and you can only expect to hear more and more about Valerie in the near future. In other words a label, right? No, in an interview with Valerie act College on kidzbycollete, the band says that Valerie is not a label, yet. Mostly due to lack of funds. But maybe one day. Could Valerie be the next huge French label?
