Leon was launched at the NAMM show in Los Angeles on January 15, 2004, and released in Japan on March 3, 2004, at the price of 39,800 yen. He is a ‘virtual male soul vocalist modelled on a real professional singer’ that targets the English language. He, along with Lola, won a 2005 Electronic Musician Editor’s Choice Award in the category ‘Most Innovative Product’. He seems to have a tulip for a character item. Leon is one of the most popular English Vocaloids among Nico Nico user but not for his voice. Leon is usually made fun of due to the odd apperance of the singer’s voice bank he uses and because of this Leon is usually drawn in a very manly way in most of his vids. However, others have given Leon a very bishie look by giving him a slender body, blonde hair, blue shirt, and white pants. Most people like to think of Leon as the English version of Kaito.
