Ghanaian, Kwaw Kese (real name: Emmanuel Abrompah Botchwey) hails from Agona Swedru and is a Hiplife artiste. He schooled at Happy Home J.S.S and then at Winneba Secondary School. He moved to Accra after school and while hanging around Hush Hush studios trying to get a demo, he caught the eye of Hammer (of the Last2 fame). That is when, he wrote Oye Nonsense which featured on Obrafour's Execution Diary compilation. Oye Nonsense was a huge hit and stayed on several countdowns for several weeks in 2004. It also stirred some controversy, as the song got linked to Kontihene's Mi gi zi gi and it was believed that Oye Nonsense was dissing Kontihene, a fellow Hiplife artiste. The next year, he did "Kwakwa" on Hammer's Sounds of the Time compilation. His debut album was released in late 2005 as well with the lead track, Na ya tal. It was extremely successful and he released his second album Odiem in 2007. His 'abodam' catch phrase has become a slogan in Ghana. He has also helped make the term, 'Wonngye' and 'Craci' popular in Hiplife circles and is the leader of Abodam records. Some of the members are Jagoo, Okoto, Dr. Crime, Father Nhusie and Fish. Abodam Records also runs an NGO called ‘Music 4 Help Foundation’ which focuses on homeless orphans and mainly sends free music concerts to the orphans, a clothing line called 'Dam' Wear and a farm in his home town (Agona Swedru) called 'Dam' Farms. Kwaw Kese is definitely a rising star on the Hiplife scene, destined for commercial success! Read more on Last.fm.
