RAFADELIC deejay, collector, mashup artist and singer inspired by tons of artists underneath the iceberg of icons mentioned in this profile. Depending on time and space Rafs DJ-style is purely or combined Trance, Reggae, Funk, Indie, Chillout, Breakbeat, Jazz and Global Grooves, using regular CD-gear or at occasions accompanied with an evergrowing vinyl collection and a phrase sampler. Raf edits, mashups and loops to terminate cheesy parts of potentially mindblowing gems or just to have some original tools for dancefloor action. Rafadelic's been trippin deeply trough all sorts of music since he was young. Allready in the mid 80’s deejaying, singing, writing lyrics and eventually bounced many directions: Jamming with the likes of Hans Dulver (Paradiso Amsterdam), performing as ‘Treetop Unit’ (supporting De La Soul in Utrecht based Tivoli), released albums & 12 inches with King "back by dope demand" Bee' feat Rudeboy (Urban Dance Squad) and Kool Keith (Ultramagnetic MC’s) under the alter-ego 'Ragoo'. The early 90s Madchesters' Rave, Rock & Breakbeat wave was another marking point in time. As he deejayed for seven years as "Oogar" with numorous other explorers (Buzz Fuzz, Dano, 100% Isis, Abraxas, Spider Willem) and became a voluntairy resident of the underground Leerdam-based club "The Jungle". Gabber hit the spot in partyland a few years later. Within that shallow scene Rafadelic tried to keep the vibes spirtual, with favourite music-labels like R&S Records, Harthouse, Planet Dog, Eye-Q and Infonet. Besides that he got more into early seventies jammusic and eventually Goa-Trance and Ambientmusic. Markpoints were the many Mindseye Squadparties in the dutch Betuwe - Ben’s Forrest Parties, Reggae-Sundance pre-parties, Artbag @ Brussels & sets with live-drums by his friend Daan (Now Motel Kingz) on various cultural events. With DJ Ronny Hammond he's hosting “Funkafied”, breathing the kaleidoscopic early 70’s funk atmosphere combined with the new "Breakfunk" sound of now. Raf Spinned a six hour ethnogroove set in a nonstop crowded tent at Folkfestival Dranouter and was a guest dj at some of the best dutch Trance-events (Nexus, Zirk, Cosmic Combination, Orkz, 4X4, Empathy, Namasté Arc of Goa). He was resident of the five "Spiral Sessions" meetings with dutch deejays from all over The Netherlands and of HBR1-Radio in Germany. Nowadays into a wide-range of genres with roots and culture: from downtempo meditation to funky global grooves, from spiritual stoner to psychedelic electronics, from regrooved hypes to layered dancefloor hypnotisement.
