JoJo is a London based electro DJ and producer. She co-founded the seminal London electro night, Nag Nag Nag, in 2001. As well as in the UK, JoJo has been a DJ of international demand since 2002. Since 2003, JoJo has been resident at the one of the longest running and respected acid house/techno nights in the UK, Bugged Out. The last Nag Nag Nag was in May 2007, JoJo remained the weekly resident there for over 6 years. The closing of the mid-week club left JoJo the time to concentrate of her efforts on production. Her self-taught studio skills came to fruition in 2006, with her debut release, the sleeper hit 'Make Some Noise!' on Bugged Out Recordings in 2006, which was licensed to Simian Mobile Disco's acclaimed "Suck My Deck" mix compilation, and was featured as one of Mixmag's top 100 tracks of 2006. JoJo launched her own record label, MYTHIC, in 2006. The label is inspired by early UK acid-house, gives a nod to British Rave and early 90's Euro techno, while also being driven towards the sound of the future. JoJo produced her first release for the label, ‘Saturn Returns/Pop This Reverie’, in March 2007. In Early 2008 the track was licensed to Felix Da Housecat’s Global Underground mix CD. In March 2008 she released ‘Feel Your Mind’ her second single for MYTHIC. It featured her own vocal, sampled and cut-up across a hypnotic acid-like riff. In May 2008 she produced two mixes of a track called Brutality, Religion & A Beat, the ‘a-side’ showcasing JoJo's peak-time rave-bass approach and on the ‘b-side’, the Bring Back Magic mix, her deeper, more melancholic sound. The third release on MYTHIC this year, Welcome to Dalston it features African gospel choir samples, ecstatic strings and epic vintage synths chords and percussion. In 2008 JoJo has has also had two remixes out. In January, she composed an original piece of music for her acclaimed remix of Miss Kittin's Kittin Is High, giving it a wonky acid-bassline and ethereal vocal treatment, and her remix of Man Like Me's Carny was release in the Summer of 2008, in which she added a glitchy techno edge to its carnivalistic style.
