Kerowack first appeared on the scene when London¹s now defunct Rip Records released their debut single ‘Dirty Bumf’ in 2005, which went on to receive heavy rotation on BBC Radio One and was featured in many mixes including Darren Emerson¹s Underwater Episode 4 & Mylo’s Essential Mix. Since then, Kerowack have communed with the London acid revival, DJ’ing and performing their live show in intimate neo-rave clubs around the world, consisting of sham pyrotechnics, Russian fuzzpedals and Victorian-era synthesizers. With a handful of releases & remixes along the way, Kerowack’s first multi-track release, titled ‘The First EP’, features collaborations with Milly Blue, chanteuse for the Basement Jaxx, and Doc Brown, postmodern lyrical poet and live MC for Mark Ronson. 'The First EP' is a true cross-Atlantic sonic smorgasbord, recorded at Arbutus Street Studios in London and Orchard Street Studios in New York City. RHAPSODY REVIEW - So, you've played your Daft Punk to death, you've worn out every Justice cut and there's nothing on Ed Banger left to hear. Where do you go next? Run, don't walk, to Kerowack, who have perfected a gritty, speaker-ripping delicious distortion of electro beats and seemingly effortless melodies and yet are not French, which is frankly something of an achievement. Imagine Groove Armada, Ms. Kittin and the Justice boys letting rip in a studio full of faulty equipment. This EP is an extremely strong effort and a worthy follow up to their much feted club stormer, "Dirty Bumf." INTERNATIONAL DJ MAG REVIEW - Scuzzy electro/acid duo Dan Gerber and Saul Good (geddit?) made their name with the hugely popular ‘Dirty Bumf’ a few years back, and have by all accounts been beavering away in their studios in London and New York ever since. The result is this rather good collection of six tracks, which touch all musical bases from glitchy beats to wonky hip-hop and straight up jacking house. That all sounds a bit Nathan Barley but it’s more fun than a barrel full of monkeys and will no doubt be huge sometime soon. TOKION MAGAZINE REVIEW - Making Acid house anthems isn’t easy whether it’s 1988 or 2007, so when “Naf Monk,” a track from kerowack’s The First EP, drops sickeningly big beats reminiscent of rave culture’s happy face heyday, you can’t help but sit up and take notice. Then you can’t help but grab a pacifier and jump around with your best friends. Elsewhere on the EP, Kerowack and guest vocalist Milly Blue (Basement Jaxx) kiss off traditional instruments in “Fuck Guitars.” It’s a bold stance, but with beats this rockin’, we might be just as well off without them too.
